I have no way of knowing how Frida Kahlo felt about her body, but having been a victim of polio and a horrible accident, she may have felt very vulnerable when posing for this photograph. Society forces us to hate our bodies, hate nudity, and ridicule imperfections. I wonder if the cat was her security blanket.
